Body too cold = shivering = discomfort

• This diagram shows the distribution of heat when the body is too cold.
• Heat is concentrated at the core of the body to maintain temperature of vital areas as a small drop in temperature here can cause death
• The temperature of the extremities has dropped and will keep on dropping even if they freeze (frostbite)to try and maintain core temperature
• .The body now must raise it`s temperature
• This is achieved by several mechanisms including shivering, vasoconstriction,increase of metabolic rate and by voluntary actions such as moving to a warmer place.
